Prayer Ministries

At Capitol Hill Presbyterian, we are devoted to the transformative power of prayer, both in our own lives and to effect change in our community and world. We believe that each individual should have an active prayer life, spend time in intimacy with our Lord in order to grow in our relationship with him, allow him to develop the fruits of the Spirit in us, and to better understand his will as we bring our requests before him. In the words of Oswald Chambers, we hold that “Prayer does not equip us for greater works – prayer is the greater work.”

Prayer Chain

Interceding on behalf of others is one of the greatest ministries we can undertake in the church, and the prayer chain exists to carry this out. If you are in need of prayer for any reason, you can submit your request to us, and it will be sent to the church e-mail prayer chain and your concerns lifted up to the Lord. If you would like to submit a prayer request or be a praying part of this e-mail chain, please send an e-mail to CHPCPrayer@aol.com.

House Blessing

If you are moving into a new home and would like your house blessed, or you are struggling with things in your home that you believe to be of a spiritual nature for which you would like prayer, we have teams of people that can come to pray over your home. If you would like a team to come to your home and pray, please e-mail CHPCPrayer@aol.com with your contact information and a brief description of the type of prayer you are seeking.

Healing and Wholeness Ministry

The Healing and Wholeness Ministry ministers God’s love and grace in the places where you are stuck, hurting, tempted, or fearful. We have healing prayer teams available (for men and for women) to create a time and space with you that is safe and confidential. We meet by appointment only. We can also accommodate another day of the week if needed. To schedule a time contact CHPCPrayer@aol.com.

Prayer Room

In our quest to pray without ceasing, as directed in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, we have dedicated a room in our building that we set aside for seasons of 24/7 prayer on occassion. At other times, this room is available as a contemplative place for individuals or groups to gather for prayer and meditation. The room includes a variety of elements inviting you to meet with God through silent reflection, reading, writing, music, artistic expression, and other elements that resonate with our belief that prayer is a form of worship and communion with our Creator that may be experienced in different ways by different people.

To inquire about spending time in the prayer room please contact the church office by e-mailing dharrington@capitolhillpres.org.
